OUR STORY
During Prohibition, a famous moonshiner named McCoy owned an old speakeasy known for its "quality product" throughout the country, especially within Palm Beach's high society. When people bragged about his moonshine, they called it "The Real McCoy." People from all over South Florida would find their way to McCoy's speakeasy to party and drink the area's finest "shine," enjoying McCoy's special hospitality all night long. Everyone got along, regardless of their financial status; titans of industry mixed with "good ol' boys."
McCoy kept his distillery hidden in the acreage behind the speakeasy. While this arrangement was great for concealing the operation from nosy neighbors, it also gave free access to his livestock from the attached ranch. Two specific goats constantly licked the stills' overflowing shine. One fateful night, those same goats found their way into the speakeasy, walking sideways and being quite friendly with the patrons.
McCoy realized that his guests were extending their stays later and later to sneak "sips" of the shine to the goats and enjoy these new friends. He instantly realized these drunken goats were great for business! With alcohol being illegal during Prohibition, patrons of McCoy's speakeasy started referring to the spot as the "Two Drunken Goats," which eventually became code for the excellent whiskey produced there as well.
All that remains now is the legend of those friendly and tipsy goats and McCoy's speakeasy, which not only gave us "The Real McCoy" but also this amazing local legend. Two Drunken Goats Cantina celebrates this legend with the same atmosphere of relaxed ease, where beachfront music vibes and drinks flow, great food is served, and everyone is welcome.
